Rathdowney Blondes
Rathdowney Blonde d'Aquitaine Stud is situated in the picturesque Running Creek district near Rathdowney, approximately 30km South of Beaudesert.
We have been breeding Blondes for over 25 years and have developed a diverse range of bloodlines. The high quality cattle that we produce are suitable for both stud and commercial breeders. The focus is to combine milkability, excellent temperament and carcase characteristics to suit a wide range of markets. We have established a feed efficiency testing station to test animals for net feed efficiency (or residual feed intake) in conjunction with another local producer.
We now have a herd of about 100 cows and heifers, comprising both purebred and crossbred Blonde cows, as well as some angus, murray grey and Brahman base dams to demonstrate the advantages of crossing with Blondes. The Brahmans will eventually form the basis of a Blondeman composite animal.
Blonde meat is in high demand from discerning consumers and we help to meet this demand by utilising local butchers and coordinating the sale and delivery of naturally lean, quality meat direct to the public.
In addition, we provide some hay contracting services to other farmers in the local area.
